Hawaii Supply Environmental Sustainability Practices hawaii-supply-recycling-smallerIn November, 2008, Hawaii Supply LLC launched its Environmental sustainability project. Although the company has been environmentally conscious in all its business practices, this decision aimed to turn the company’s environmental efforts into a formal program that will be continually maintained and improved.
Hawaii Supply has been generating 80% of its own electrical power using solar panels for years now. The company has also been recycling most of its waste including EPS, cardboard and plastic.
Launching the program formally aimed to increasing these efforts and documenting them in a form that will be easily measured, controlled and improved. Furthermore, the project aims to setting an example for our employees to transfer the company’s environmental sustainability efforts to their personal lives.

EPS Recycling (Recycling Expanded Polystyrene)

Hawaii Supply LLC is one of the first companies in Hawaii to start recycling Expanded Polystyrene. This high volume material that is being used in various construction and packaging applications has been disposed in Hawaii’s landfills for few decades. Hawaii Supply invested in a recycling system that enabled compacting and recycling this material, saving Hawaii’s landfill from millions of cubic feet of EPS each year.
